Sevdalinka performances and community education accompanied the opening news eu wahl of the first Scientology Volunteer Ministers exhibition in Sarajevo. The three-day event brought residents together in the city centre as part of the European Goodwill Tour. After worsening weather moved the ceremony indoors, musicians in traditional Bosnian clothing entertained guests. The music included sevdalinka, a distinctive Bosnian musical tradition internationally recognised for its cultural significance.

Inside the tent, visitors explored 19 subjects from The Scientology Handbook, covering communication, parenting, learning and challenges in everyday life. The programme combined educational materials with supervised demonstrations and opportunities for participation. Sessions on Scientology assists, techniques presented as a form of spiritual support, generated considerable interest among participants. By the end of the exhibition, 13 attendees reportedly had already put some of the techniques into practice with relatives.

Before arriving in Sarajevo, the European Goodwill Tour spent five weeks in Mostar, having entered the country in June 2026. For the Volunteer Ministers, this was not their first experience assisting communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following the severe floods of 2014, Scientology volunteers assisted families with clearing flood-damaged buildings and restoring essential facilities, including work at a flooded farm in Kopanica.

Created by Church of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard in the 1970s, the Volunteer Ministers programme supports educational activities and assistance during disasters. It forms part of the Church of Scientology's ongoing social and volunteer programmes.

Ivan Arjona, the Church of Scientology representative to the European Union and other international organisations, linked the initiative to human dignity, mutual respect and civic responsibility. "Sarajevo's history and cultural traditions remind us that helping others begins with respect for the people and communities around us," he said.

The programme continued with a further educational session for members of a Sarajevo cultural association. The organisers reported additional interest in holding a similar session for more residents. The tour concluded its visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 8 October 2026.
